The Carafoli family has been making wine since the early 1900s in Emilia Romagna. Today, they only specialize in all things sparkling from the region, which essentially means Lambrusco. Their estate bottlings are best known for the L’Onesta tier, including the off-dry, deep red Lambrusco, and their bright, aromatic, ruby dry Rosé. These hail from vines in the Sorbara area, which render a different, more ruby-tinged wines. Farming Practices are sustainable with alluvial soils of chalk and sand. Vines planted in 1965.
Nicchia is named after the late 19th century countess of Castiglione whose picture is on the label. This Lambrusco has a touch of sweetness with notes of black plums, cherry and currants.
